Bamako Encounters: Reflections on the 8th edition of the African Photography Biennial
Bamako Encounters was organised to reflect upon the experience of Visiting Arts Curators’ Visit to the Mali-based Biennial, Recontres de Bamako, in November 2009. Held at Rivington Place, London, on Tuesday 23 February, the evening was led by the curators’ group to describe and distil the content of the visit to share with our colleagues in the UK. A series of short presentations and critiques were delivered to an audience of over 50 people which included writers, curators and artists, a few of whom had also attended the Biennial.
